Alex Lank

Collaborative Pianist

Alex Lank is a pianist, organist, drummer, and educator. He
holds a MMus from the University of Toronto (jazz drum set
and composition) and a BMus from St. Francis Xavier
University. Alex has experience playing and recording in a
broad range of musical contexts, from large ensembles like
the Guelph Symphony Orchestra, to smaller jazz and

chamber ensembles, rock bands, and the 10 piece out-of-
this-world electro funk outfit Unidentified Funk Object.

Alex currently works as organist and Music Director at Trinity
United Church in New Glasgow, where he also maintains a
studio teaching piano, drums, and theory. He continues to
work as an accompanist with soloists, choirs, and musical
productions.

Allison Avery

Manager

Allison is a lawyer with the Public Prosecution Service with a
wealth of musical experience and expertise. She studied flute at
Dalhousie University under Beth Dubois & Patricia Creighton
and enjoys teaching in her private studio.  As a performer, she has played with the Lethbridge Symphony, Lethbridge Community Gold Band and the Pictou County Brass
& Reed Band. She regularly contributes to musical theatre
performances as a pit band instrumentalist, both with
Lethbridge Musical Theatre, North Nova Education Centre and
the Rotary Club of Pictou.

Sheila Aucoin

 

Sheila Aucoin is a passionate choral and music educator. She directs the North Nova Education Centre choral program and is musical director of NNEC’s yearly musical productions.

 

Sheila studied voice at Acadia University before completing her Bachelor of Music Education and Masters in Music Education at Memorial University. She is Vice Chair of the Nova Scotia Music Education Council and an active advocate for music education both provincially and nationally.

 

Fueled by her own musical experiences in this community, Sheila developed a provincial-winning middle school choral program at New Glasgow Academy before taking the reins at NNEC, leading the high school program through the challenges of COVID-19 and leading both high school choirs to the National Music Festival in 2023.
