Does my child/youth require previous choral or private voice lesson experience?No. Previous choral or voice lesson experience is not required. Just a love of singing, willingness to work together as team, and the desire learn have fun while doing it! To ensure all singers’ success, it’s very important to schedule a Voice Placement Meeting to find the choir section that is best for each student.

When does the season start/end?The regular season runs from early September until the end of May.

How many concerts are there?NGYC has two major concerts scheduled: one in December and May. In addition to these concert dates, the choir will compete in the local New Glasgow Music Festival and travel to Halifax Atlantic Festival of Music. There may be opportunities to engage in community performances throughout year which will be communicated throughout the season.

How long are rehearsals?Weekly rehearsals are one and a half hours long, which will be an active engaged 1.5 hours!

When are rehearsals?Rehearsals begin at 6PM on Sunday evenings. Retreat rehearsals have also been scheduled to ensure repertoire is polished for performance. Retreats will often involve guest clinicians and snacks will be provided.

Where are rehearsals?All rehearsals will take place at Trinity United Church, located at 151 Temperance Street in New Glasgow.
